Unlock Your Inborn Creativity

Unlock Your Inborn Creativity
by Brian Tracy

Imagination is more important than facts. —Albert Einstein

Here is some more good news. You are a potential genius. You are smarter than you have ever imagined. You have more raw brainpower and creative ability than you have ever used up to now.

Your brain has 10 billion cells, each of which is connected to as many as 20,000 other cells by a complex network of neurons and dendrites. This means that the possible combinations and permutations of cells in your brain are greater than the number of molecules in the known universe. Your ability to develop ideas to help you succeed is unlimited. This means that your ability to succeed is unlimited as well.

Your creativity is stimulated by three factors: first, intensely desired goals; second, pressing problems; and third, focused questions. The more you focus your mind on achieving your goals, solving your problems, or answering the tough questions about your business and personal life, the smarter you become and the better your mind works for you in the future.

Your brain, your creativity, is like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger and more resilient it becomes. You can actually increase your intelligence and your IQ by disciplining yourself to think creatively all day long. And remember, creativity is just another word for "improvement." Every time you come up with an idea to improve some part of your work, to find newer, better, faster, cheaper, or easier ways to accomplish a result, you are functioning at the highest level of creativity.

Just as you develop your muscles by straining them with physical training, you develop your mental muscles by straining them as well. Here is an exercise for you to develop your brainpower and unlock your inner genius...

Take a clean sheet of paper and write your most important goal or most pressing problem at the top in the form of a question. For example, you could write "How can I double my income over the next 24 to 36 months?"

Now, discipline yourself to write at least 20 different answers to your question. Select one of your answers and take action on it immediately. You will be amazed at the results.

Action Exercise: Write down your most pressing problem or your most intensely desired goal. Then, imagine that this problem was solved perfectly or this goal was achieved in an ideal way. What would the solution or achievement look like? What could you do immediately to bring about this result? Remember, action is everything!

Continued success,

BT

What am I really looking to gain from this?”

By asking ourselves this question, "What am I really looking to gain from this?" We  might find that we hope to obtain greater confidence or validation from others. Examining the reasons behind our competitiveness allows us to see what we need to work on internally. Being competitive is usually an external manifestation of an inner deficit—we hide our fears behind our triumphs. We think that others look up to us because of our drive. When we take the time to look at the deeper reasons that compel us, however, we begin to realize that we are in fact covering up for our own lack of value. Winning lets us prove to others that we are worthy when in fact we need to develop this sense of value in ourselves. Finding out why we need to win will give us greater insights into the aspects of our lives that we need to cultivate further.

Life is Art by Jim Rohn

Life is Art by Jim Rohn

In my years teaching people to be successful, I have seen that basically people break their lives down into two major parts: wealth- building and the rest of their lives. Having done a lot of reflection on these two topics—wealth and life—I am coming to some new conclusions about how to perceive the two.

Until recently I thought that there was a significant difference in how we should tackle the two areas. In fact, I thought that the two topics should be addressed in almost opposite fashion.

You see, wealth-building is just math. While life—Life is art.

Think back with me to high school. Most of us were required to take math and most of us probably took art as well.

Now, think about your final exams in the two areas. Your math paper was graded on hard facts:

Ten times ten is always one-hundred. Thirty divided by three is always ten. Seven plus seven is always fourteen. Fifty minus twenty-five is always twenty-five.

There is always just one answer in math. The answers are hard fact, set in stone. Math is a science. It is formulaic. You can know the outcome before it happens, every time.

But what about your final art project? Art is much more subjective. "Beauty," they say, "is in the eye of the beholder." There is no one right answer.

Think of the different styles of the famous artists:

Renoir. Monet. Picasso. Rockwell. Warhol.

Different people find different styles beautiful, and that is what makes art, art.

So how does this fit with wealth-building and life? Wealth-building is like math:

If you add $1,000 to your retirement account each month and gain 7 percent interest over 20 years, you can know now how much you will have then. It is math. If you buy a rental property for $200,000 now and it increases in value by 3 percent a year, you know exactly how much you will be able to sell it for in 10 years. The beauty of math is in the knowing. You can work the system, set it on auto-pilot and the math does the work for you, and you know the outcome.

But life? Life is art. And that is the beauty of life. You do not know how it is going to turn out. Life, like art, is always changing. Different people provide different colors. When you make a mistake, you can go back, erase it or even paint right over it. You can change the scenery. Life, like art, is ever evolving, and what looks good to one person is of no interest to another. And that is what makes life beautiful.

Another lesson I think we can draw is that in life we should do our math, of course, but life isn't made up of just wealth-building. Wealth-building should serve our ability to live our lives. Jesus, the master teacher, said that our lives are not made up of the abundance of our possessions. He didn't mean that possessions aren't good, just that wealth isn't what life is all about.

So let me ask you: Are you spending more time on your math or your art? Do your math. Everybody should do their very best at their wealth-building plan so they can take care of themselves and their families.

But life is about the art. What does your canvas look like? What kind of picture are you painting? What kind of pot are you creating? What kind of statue are you sculpting? Take your time, make bold strokes, use brilliant colors, and make of your life the most beautiful masterpiece that you can.

In other words, do your math so you can focus on your art.

The future holds everything I want

Thinking positively about the future encourages us to put our mental energy into something that is promising and optimistic. When we feel that the future holds wonder for us we focus on what is going right in our lives at present. This feeling of contentment allows us to look at the things that occur in our lives—even things that might seem negative—as opportunities for growth. Viewing our lives as a series of possibilities means we see the future as an opening instead of something unknown and fearful. By putting yourself in a positive frame of mind today, the future will unfold for you in transformative ways.

The Habit of "Zoning Out"

The Habit of "Zoning Out"
By Dan Robey

Here is one of my favorite positive habits that will instantly
motivate you and make you feel happy.....you will love it!
Make a list of the songs that you love the most; songs that make
you feel happy, joyous, excited, full of energy, and young at
heart.
Make a CD of these songs or create a playlist for your
I-Pod, I-Phone, Droid phone or other MP3 player.

Most of us have these powerful gadgets...but how often
do we use their power to change ours lives?
OK, now that you have a CD or new playlist that contains
songs that are guaranteed to make you feel good, lets put
them to use.

Play these songs at a designated time, such as:
1. On your way to or from work.
2. Play them during your workouts
3. Play them when you are depressed
Try and get into the habit of "Zoning out" with these songs.
What does that mean?
Here is an example:
When I am working out on a cardio machine at the gym, I play
songs that keep me motivated on my I-Pod and I "Zone out" of
everything around me.

I concentrate more and more on the music...I am zoning out of
my surroundings, and zoning into the music and the feelings
I get from the music.

This is also a great stress reliever.
I visualize myself as getting stronger, I get into the music so much
that I sometime forget where I am....I have completely zoned
out of my surroundings.

As you listen to songs that you love, your mood will be elevated.
Picture yourself as succeeding at what is most important to you
right now.

Do this over and over again.
You will find that these music triggers will automatically motivate
you and give you a feeling of power and well-being.
I have been able to instantly place myself in a better mood on cue
by playing songs that make me feel good.

Passion Propels Your Dreams

Most people don't realize how much passion they put into what they don't want. When you speak to a friend and you tell them all about an "awful" situation, you are putting passion into what you don't want. When you react to an event negatively, with the response that it ...is "terrible", you are putting passion into what you don't want.

You are a beautiful passionate being, so make sure you direct your passion wisely
- Rhonda Byrne

Tell someone you love them. Do a good deed. Buy someone a cup of coffee. Pat a dog. Stop and smell a flower. Smile at a stranger. Hold a door open. Whatever it takes, just do it. Do not dwell on the negatives. Focus on the positive and the abundance. Do this everyday. Starting today.

dealing with difficult people in your life

"Since we cannot change difficult people, we can only change ourselves and our reactions to their behavior. They need our cooperation and our permission to intimidate, control and repeatedly manipulate us to get their way. In most relationships, we are treated exactly the way we allow ourselves to be treated. The good news is that because we are partly responsible there is something we can do to create and maintain relationships where we are treated respectfully. That's great news! By focusing on ourselves and the changes we can make in our own behaviors and reactions, we can begin to take control of how other people treat us—today!"  ~Connie Podesta, Board-certified therapist and counselor

The Positive Habit of keeping a "Journal" can change your life

The Positive Habit of keeping a "Journal" can change your life... By Dan Robey

"Keeping a journal will absolutely change your life in ways you've never imagined." - Oprah Winfrey

Why is it so important to keep a journal?
Here are just a few of the benefits a personal journal will provide you:
* A journal will remind you of your goals and the actions you are
taking towards them every day. Your are writing down your goals
for 2012, right?
* It allows you to factually track your progress as you head closer towards your goals. Here is an example. Suppose you had
set a new goal to lose 20 lbs in the next 3 months. Record your weight in your journal each day, you will now be able to see
trends in your weight loss that you would not have seen without the journal.
* It provides detailed information such as dietary changes, calorie reductions, fat reduction, and so on.
* It helps build your self-esteem because you are reaffirming the positive benefits you are achieving as you get closer to your
goals.
* It helps to paint the picture every day of who you are becoming.
* When you see positive results as they happen, you will become energized with optimism.
Here are a couple of simple journal tips:
Keep a simple, short log , it's easy, and it usually only takes 1 minute of your time. Each day, make short entries into your
journal, list such things as your attitude, emotions, diet, weight, responses to situations and conditions in your life.
For example, if having a healthy heart is one of your goals, you will want to keep track of your cholesterol levels, your blood
pressure, your weight. (Obviously, all of this data would not be recorded daily, but some entry would be recorded each day)
Try this simple little exercise.
Get out a note pad or a sheet of paper and a pencil. Look at your watch. When the second hand hits 12, start timing yourself as you write down the following information:
5/27/12 Sun.-Felt great all day. Weight 135 pounds. Walked briskly for 20 minutes. Had healthy almonds and nuts for snacks.

More then likely, you completed writing down the information in approximately 1 minute. Yet, in that 1 minute, you created an
important snapshot of important data in your life. You now have historical data you can refer to as time goes by, to help you track your progress as you move towards your life goals.

I know how well this works. For many years, I have kept a simple, yet informative log of every day of my life. I can tell you
exactly how I felt on Wed., July 25,1999, or any day since. I can look back and see how I reacted to issues in my life and what
helped me overcome an illness, injury or stressful period in my life.
It generally takes me less then two minutes to record the log for any day. It is a habit that has become a part of my life; it is now second nature for me. If you have a computer, I recommend typing just three to four lines of descriptive text into a word processing program or notepad each day.

Prayer and Meditation

Prayer and Meditation
Asking and Receiving
by Madisyn Taylor
Meditation and prayer can offer us different experiences and both can be powerful tools.

Prayer and meditation are similar practices in that they both offer us a connection to the divine, but they also differ from one another in significant ways. Put simply, prayer is when we ask the universe for something, and meditation is when we listen. When we pray, we use language to express our innermost thoughts and feelings to a higher power. Sometimes, we plumb the depths within ourselves and allow whatever comes to the surface to flow out in our prayer. At other times, we pray words that were written by someone else but that express what we want to say. Prayer is reaching out to the universe with questions, pleas for help, gratitude, and praise.

Meditation, on the other hand, has a silent quality that honors the art of receptivity. When we meditate, we cease movement and allow the activity of our minds and hearts to go on without us in a sense. Eventually, we fall into a deep silence, a place that underlies all the noise and fray of daily human existence. In this place, it becomes possible for us to hear the universe as it speaks for itself, responds to our questions, or sits with us in its silent way.

Both prayer and meditation are indispensable tools for navigating our relationship with the universe and with ourselves. They are also natural complements to one another, and one makes way for the other just as the crest of a wave gives way to its hollow. If we tend to do only one or the other, prayer or meditation, we may find that we are out of balance, and we might benefit from exploring the missing form of communication. There are times when we need to reach out and express ourselves, fully exorcising our insides, and times when we are empty, ready to rest in quiet receiving. When we allow ourselves to do both, we begin to have a true conversation with the universe.
