Life dishes out challenges

From Todd Falcone http://blog.toddfalcone.com/

This comes DIRECTLY from a personal experience I had on Thursday when my plane caught fire and we had to make an emergency landing in North Dakota.
I'm not at all joking. I spent about 10 hours in Fargo waiting for NEW Fire Extinguishers to be driven up to the airport from Minnesota. Quite the day. Bottom line...we made it safely to our finally destination, it just took about 20 hours.
So...why am I telling you this?
Simple.
Life dishes you stuff sometimes. Life dishes out challenges. Life dishes what life feels like dishin' whenever she feels like it. Life happens. And...
...in the midst of the STUFF we all get to experience in life, you have the opportunity to CHOOSE. I chose to keep my chin up and to EMBRACE the day, and to find JOY in the middle of the garbage.

The next time you are faced with something tough, hard, not so fun, take the HIGH road. Find the FUN in it. It'll make the pain of any bad experience, far less painful.
O.K. so...I just wanted to share that, because I saw some people flat FREAKING, even after we landed safely. Some were even super mad. I was joyful the moment we touched the ground!

cross the line

cross the line

With everything, there’s a line.

On one side of the line is a greater chance to give more, enjoy more, realize more. On the other side, there’s less of a chance.

And with each line, there’s a choice. You want to cross the line or you don’t. You want the better chance at meaningful – opportunity – impact – or you settle with the lesser chance.

Your choice.

It seems simple but then there’ll be those times…http://bit.ly/aQcPW9

Challenges are beautiful opportunities in disguise

From The Secret Daily Teachings

The fastest way to become the Master of your thoughts and emotions is through challenging situations. If your life is going along fairly smoothly, there are not the same opportunities that enable you to strengthen your power and become the Master of your thoughts and emotions.

You see, even challenges are beautiful opportunities in disguise.

I’m As Happy as I Want to Be

I’m As Happy as I Want to Be

Almost everyone have heard the single 'Don't Worry, Be Happy' by Bobby McFerrin (can you hear the melody now?). The song has a very catchy way of conveying its message of being happy to everyone. Bobby Mcferrin's simple message surely made a lot of people by telling them not to worry.

Living a happy, resilient and optimistic life is wonderful, and is also good for your health. Being happy actually protects you from the stresses of life. Stress is linked to top causes of death such as heart disease, cancer and stroke.

One of the better things ever said is - 'The only thing in life that will always remain the same is change', and in our life we have the power to make the necessary changes if we want to. Even if we find ourselves in an unbearable situation we can always find solace in the knowledge that it too would change.

Social networks or relationships are essential to happiness. People are different, accept people for who or what they are, avoid clashes, constant arguments, and let go of all kinds of resentments. If arguments seem unavoidable still try and make an effort to understand the situation and you might just get along with well with

Happiness is actually found in everyone, increasing it is a way to make a life more wonderful and also more healthy.

To be happy is relatively easy, just decide to be a happy person. Abraham Lincoln observed that most people for most of the time can choose how happy or stressed, how relaxed or troubled, how bright or dull their outlook to be. The choice is simple really, choose to be happy.

There are several ways by which you can do this.

Being grateful is a great attitude. We have so much to be thankful for. Thank the taxi driver for bringing you home safely, thank the cook for a wonderful dinner and thank the guy who cleans your windows. Also thank the mailman for bringing you your mails, thank the policeman for making your place safe and thank God for being alive.

News is stressful. Get less of it. Some people just can't start their day without their daily dose of news. Try and think about it, 99% of the news we hear or read is bad news. Starting the day with bad news does not seem to be a sensible thing to do.

A spiritual connection is also recommended. Being part of a religious or spiritual group with its singing, sacraments, chanting, prayers and meditations foster inner peace.

Manage your time. Time is invaluable and too important to waste. Time management can be viewed as a list of rules that involves scheduling, setting goals, planning, creating lists of things to do and prioritizing. These are the core basics of time management that should be understood to develop an efficient personal time management skill. These basic skills can be fine tuned further to include the finer points of each skill that can give you that extra reserve to make the results you desire.

Laugh and laugh heartily everyday. Heard a good joke? Tell your friends or family about it. As they also say -'Laughter is the best medicine'.

Express your feelings, affections, friendship and passion to people around you. They will most likely reciprocate your actions. Try not to keep pent up anger of frustrations, this is bad for your health. Instead find ways of expressing them in a way that will not cause more injury or hurt to anyone.

Working hard brings tremendous personal satisfaction. It gives a feeling of being competent in finishing our tasks. Accomplishments are necessary for all of us, they give us a sense of value. Work on things that you feel worthy of your time.

Learning is a joyful exercise. Try and learn something new everyday. Learning also makes us expand and broaden our horizons. And could also give us more opportunities in the future.

Run, jog, walk and do other things that your body was made for. Feel alive.

Avoid exposure to negative elements like loud noises, toxins and hazardous places.

These are the few simple things you can do everyday to be happy.

And always remember the quote from Abraham Lincoln, he says that, "Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."

It’s the moment that counts

It’s the moment that counts

Mamacita is usually affectionate with me however, today she wanted to let me know how displeased she is with my recent travel schedule. It appears she & I haven’t been having enough “us” time. As I was about to start writing, “mama” happened in from the bedroom, she leapt up on my lap and starting kneading skin through my mesh basketball shorts.

I extracted her claws from my thigh & put her down on the floor, she turned around immediately, jumped back in my lap & repositioned herself-this dance went on for 4 minutes, now we go through this routine from time to time, and generally I just scratch her behind her ears for a few seconds and she’s good to go. Not today…

I gave her the obligatory head & ear scratch, put her down once again & was meant with huge leap from the floor straight onto my chest, the force & surprise caused me to fall back into the couch. There’s my 7 lb jet black cat standing on my chest steering me down with a “don’t try that again buster” look in her eye. Needless to say I got the point.

All she wanted was a little time and attention-not being content for me to finish what I thought was more important, this little feline play fiend of mine brought my world to a halt for 5 minutes to remind me, that everything I do, everyplace I go means nothing if I don’t give my time, love, devotion, all equaling my attention, to the people & pets with whom I am blessed to share my space.
I’m thinking I’m home so how could she not be getting the time. But being present in the moment is not the same as being in the house.
Her mission complete, she leapt to the ground and sauntered away, as she looked back I could swear she winked & flashed the slightest smile. Thanks “Mama.”

A Secret Scrolls message from Rhonda Byrne

Another easy way to use the law of attraction for your benefit is this:

Every night before you fall asleep, replay in your mind the good moments of the day, and give heartfelt thanks for each one of them. Think about the next day also, and intend that it is going to be amazing, that it is going to be filled with love and joy, and that all good is coming to you. Intend that it is going to be the best day of your life. Then when you wake in the morning, BEFORE you get out of bed, declare your intentions again for the day and give deep thanks as though you have received them all.

May the joy be with you,
Rhonda Byrne

I believe in you

I believe in you

I may not even know you, maybe there’s a chance I do, it doesn’t matter I believe in you. If you’d have known me not so long ago, you’d never question why I say what I do.

My life was in shambles torn and tattered. There was nothing of substance.

There was nothing that mattered.

Then first, one at a time they came –then so many I don’t recall every name, but the message, their message was always the same, “Don’t Give UP! Don’t Quit! You Can Do it! You may not know it yet, but we do, hang in there we believe in you.”

More came and repeated more of the same, “Don’t Give UP! Don’t Quit! You Can Do it! You may not know it yet, but we do, hang in there we believe in you.”

I’d heard this before, back in my carefree childhood days…Back then these words I choose to ignore. But what I was hearing was a familiar refrain: If life knocks you down start again.

Even if you don’t know where or how to start-that’s not a reason not to; it’s not the where, why, or how, it’s the do & you can. I know you can, I really do-I believe in you.

Climb a mountain, captain ship, read a book it doesn’t matter the feat, how great or how small-whatever you want you can do it all. And do it well.

It may be difficult at first and you’ll think I’m gonna fail-that’s alright, sometimes it is what you think-but more often it’s what you do. Think what you think-I still believe in you.

Have you ever heard that you don’t fail unless you quit? Guess what it’s true. So give it another shot-I believe in you.

You may not be the Greatest Of All Time in anything you do-so what? Do it anyway, do it cause you love it, do it for your you-I don’t care why you do it-do it and I’ll believe in you.

Live The Life You've Dreamed,

Your Mind is Your Biggest Asset

Your Mind is Your Biggest Asset

The first step to discovering your potential is to realize that no matter your physical, financial or environmental limitations you, I and the vast majority of humanity has one very important asset in common: Our Mind.

Our mind can work with us and for us to help us reach our goals. Once we unlock the keys our mind holds, we have the opportunity to do the following:

* Learn to override the fears of failure and not being good enough. To let go of social phobias and the hold of limiting beliefs.

* Discover the talents and gifts we were given and how we can develop them.

* Learn how to spot new opportunities to develop personal growth and learn new skills.

* Set goals you had always thought were the goals of dreamers, and then meet those goals.

* Develop a strong sense of purpose and direction. Learn the value of your life in this world and what a difference your new life can make.

* Become someone who loves to face a challenge and then meet it, and overcome it. You’ll discover the fun in conquering the mountains of challenge in your own life and not taking the status quo as an acceptable standard anymore.

* Learn the benefits of a balanced life where your physical, emotional, spiritual and financial health lives in harmony with each other and you feel fulfilled and satisfied with your life.

* No longer be someone ever happy to be just comfortable. You’ll instead want to live in the zone of the outrageous, fulfilled and achieved.

By investing in time to unlock your own potential, you have the opportunity to discover all that you were created to be. Part of that process is identifying what your purpose is. To do that you need to first look at what makes you feel passionate.

A life lived with passion is a life lived fully.

Improving Self-Confidence

Improving Self-Confidence

Self- confidence is something that people find difficult to have. Contrary to what most people think, self confidence is not something that only the gifted and blessed have.

Improving Self-Confidence is about self-development and self-improvement. It’s about the need to acknowledge weaknesses and at the same time strengthening them. It’s about loving and accepting ourselves as we are.

To attain confidence, it is important to believe in and be content with ourselves. To develop a sense of self-acceptance; self- acceptance is about accepting not only the good things in life, but also the shortcomings.

Aside from self-acceptance what else can you do to achieve self-confidence?

• Understanding thoughts and emotions- By becoming aware of our emotions and behaviors, we become able to overcome and correct them. Do It Now.

• Self discipline. Changing attitude and behavior, or even perspective might take a while. Change does not happen overnight. We need to gather enough knowledge and start learning and practicing the skills that we would like to improve and develop. Self-discipline is about how we make sure that our goals and vision are translated in action and achieved. We need self discipline to make sure that we do not back-out just because of disappointments and setbacks.

• Have a clear vision on what you want to happen in life. To be able to move forward with that life vision, it is important to have clarity. Seeing what we want to have, in a clear image, encourages us to work for it.

• The choice is ours. We can choose what we want to experience. Doing something that’s important for ourselves, something we love, gives us enough confidence to continue with what we’ve started.

• Commitment and trusting. To we need to commit ourselves to the process.

We may also have to develop some other characteristics, like self awareness, which is our readiness to look at our past, accept it and the same goes for the present.

Building self-confidence can’t be done in just a snap. It should be a never-ending process, a life-time journey. Sometimes, we can only say that we are fully masterful of our life if we have reached our dreams and goals. Building self-confidence can help use with growth and eventually with success. We just need to continue with our dreams and be patient.

Determine What You Want In Life

Determine What You Want In Life

What do you really want in life?

Most people don’t discover what they want in life until it’s time to die – and that’s a shame.

Most people spend the best years of their lives watching television or doing things they dislike. An author described humanity by saying, “Most people die at twenty and are buried at eighty.” Are you one of the living zombies?

What do you really want in life?

Some people struggle in answering such question. When asked what they want or what their goals in life are, many are unsure. They dillydally in their decision, hardly giving any thought about what they want in life. People without definite goals are letting time pass them by. Are you one of these people?

If you are undecided about what you want out of life, do not worry. There are many ways of discovering your purpose in life.

To discover what you want in life, try looking deep into your heart. Oftentimes, people are ruled by logic. People live by what they think they should be or by what others like them to be. The discovery process is the perfect time to listen to your heart. What your heart desires comes from the whispers of your authentic self. Your authentic self is the real you.

Listen to your heart to be able to listen to your authentic self. What your heart says usually feels right. What your heart desires is what you usually love to do and this represents your passion. Anything done with passion is like play where the task is accomplished without hesitation. You pour out your very best and feel no pressure or resistance.

You will totally enjoy doing things that are your passion. Setbacks, difficulties, and obstacles will make it more challenging, but should not deter you from pursuing your goals. Naturally, there may be barriers that may prevent you from reaching your goal, but your heart’s desire will find ways to overcome these barriers so that you may ultimately get what you want in life. Remember this: the universe supports people who are pursuing their passion and those who are pursuing their destiny.

However, this does not mean that you don’t use your head. People are born with both the mind and heart. Your duty is to live your best life and be in harmony with your mind and heart. The poet Rumi wisely said, “Live completely in the head and you cannot feel the breath and rhythm of life. Live completely in the heart and you may find yourself acting like a love-struck fool with poor judgment and discipline. It’s all a fine balance - the head and heart must forge a lifetime partnership if one wants to live a beautiful life.”

Listen to your instinct. Part of human nature is the mysterious and spontaneous reaction on things. Often times, these are called instincts. Your authentic self communicates with you and guides you via instincts. Instincts are those gentle nudges that urge you to act and follow a certain path. Your role then is to listen attentively.

Often times, we listen to what others say and allow them to run our lives. Parents often do this to their children. “We come from a family of doctors, so my son must also be a doctor.” How often do we hear this from parents who have good intentions for their children? Parents unconsciously block the true expression of their child’s real self and calling. Friends and critics will discourage you and point out the impossibility of your dream. Before heeding their advice, evaluate the accomplishments of the critics. Did they achieve theirs dreams? Do they dream big at all?

Remember, it is your destiny that is in line, not theirs. It doesn’t mean, though, that you will not listen to what other people say. Hear them out just the same. But the final decision should be yours.

There is only thing to remember: Every person, to live truly and greatly, must define how he wants to live and what his brightest life will look like. Listen to your instincts and follow your heart’s desire. You will never go wrong.

Live The Life You've Dreamed,

Conquer Your Fear of the Unknown

Conquer Your Fear of the Unknown

Worrying about what the future holds is one of the most
common fears. Often times you're anticipating the worst
while, at the same time, realizing that a life in fear is not very
pleasant at all.

Fortunately there are certain strategies you can use to conquer
your fear of the unknown.

Try implementing some of these techniques to conquer your
fears:

1. Think about the outcomes. When you're approaching an
unknown situation, it helps to make a list of all the possible
outcomes. Some of the results may be good and some not so
good, but feeling like you have just a little foreknowledge about
the future will help to ease your fears.

2. Clear the mind. Make an active effort to clear your mind.
One of the reasons you feel fear is that you're worried that
something bad is going to happen. This could be because of a
situation from your past that you've projected into the future.
You need to take these thoughts off the table and approach
your fears with a clear head.

3. Take positive steps forward. It sounds easy, but it may
be difficult to put into practice. Strive to visualize everything
turning out positively. If you concentrate more on the positive
aspect, you can actually turn your fear into excitement.

4. Study fear. Fear has a real purpose in appropriate situations.
The experience of fear makes your heart rate rise and you're
better able to escape threatening situations. However, humans
have built many unnecessary and non-life threatening fears.
Once you realize that these types of fears serve no purpose,
you'll be stronger for it.

5. Talk it through. You might be feeling alone with your fears.
It helps to talk through your problems with someone close to
you. Perhaps it'll help to discuss your fears with someone who
has experienced a similar situation. Just knowing you're not
alone can ease your fear, even if the person doesn't have any

especially helpful advice to give.

6. Start small. If you're afraid of the unknown in a general
sense, starting small will help reduce your fear. Instead of
tackling a seemingly huge insurmountable task, just try doing
something small first. Break out of your comfort zone for a
little bit and try something new you've never tried before.

7. Give up control. The future can be frightening when we think
we must control every aspect of it. While there are certain
actions you can take to maintain some kind of control, there
are many things you have no control over. When you accept
that the future will be what it will be, regardless of how you
feel, it may not seem quite as scary.

Present Thinking

When your thoughts get caught up in the future, whether it's
the near future or the distant future, it clouds your current
situation. If you're especially fearful, take a step back and focus
on what is going on in the present moment.
Your present thinking automatically allows you to take things
one step at a time. If you're currently doing the laundry, for
example, the only thing you should focus on is getting stains
out or putting clothes in the dryer - or positive things you look
forward to. Brush other worries away and live in the here and
now.

This isn't to say you should never think about the future. When
you think about the future, do it with a clear head and positive
thoughts and without letting the fears bury you.

Following these strategies can alleviate your fear of the
unknown and bring you a life full of enthusiasm for the future
instead of fear. What a difference this can make! And there's
no better time to start than the present. Do It Now!

Live The Life You've Dreamed,

Derrick
